Boston – Massachusetts and New York lawmakers are calling for increased federal investment in child care, citing rising costs and limited access for families across the state.
During a visit to Horizons for Homeless Children in Roxbury, Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley and Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) joined Mayor Michelle Wu to read Ambitious Girl and observe the organization’s early education program, underscoring the importance of access to high-quality care.
Officials say current federal funding falls short of meeting demand, leaving many families without affordable options and impacting workforce stability. Lawmakers are urging Congress to expand support for child care and early education.
